What to Do in a One Horse Town

We have two more days ’till we close escrow and we’re running out of things to do. Yesterday we managed to get most of the utilities in our name. Since we have no plans to go to Florence, until tomorrow, we are forced to hang out in Lawrenceburg.

Our hotel probably hasn’t been updated since the 70’s and it was the only place willing to take our dog. It’s dark and dingy, but at least it’s clean. I have affectionately named it, “The Roadkill Inn”. We are checking out Friday morning and I don’t care if we end up sleeping on the floor of our new home. I just want to get out of there.

We have tried a few restaurants here in town. On our first night we had sushi which was ok. It was fresh, but we were the only ones in there. Another night we went to Miss Annie’s. Their jalapeño bottle caps were one of our favorites, but their prime rib was just ok. The next night we went to the Brass Lantern and it was our favorite. We loved the prime rib and peel and eat Cajun shrimp. Last night, we thought we’d be adventurous and try Mexican. We especially loved the tortilla soup, but the enchiladas, rice and beans made me long for California Mexican food. My brother and his wife live in Nashville and they have turned us on to a couple of restaurants there; an Italian restaurant called Porta Via that offers great salads, pastas and regular or gluten free pizza, and Woodlands, a Vegetarian Indian restaurant that serves the most amazing Indian food.

Eric’s son, Dusty will be here Thursday. It will be nice to see a familiar face. I’m hoping the next few days pass quickly and we can start enjoying the reason we came.
