The Good Weed

I try and keep up with the weeding around the house. Eric went off to weed wack the pasture fences (before they went to seed). He had just trimmed the hedges and I wanted to get all the trimmings all raked up. There were weeds back by the pool that needed TLC.

I know there’s no such thing as a good weed, but the last thing you want is to have to struggle with them. I was dreading pulling up the Kentucky blue grass that had grown into the rose patch. To my surprise, it was tremendously easy pulling it all up. The soil is moist from the rain which also made it easy.

What makes the job a job is the heat and humidity. The last few days have been pretty hot. Now I know why farmers wake up so bloody early. They do it to get the majority of their chores done before the heat sets in.
