May Flowers, Not May Showers

10May13

May seems to be the month for most of the rainfall here. The average is about 6 inches. We’re really hoping the weather cooperates because we’re getting ready to host a small dinner party by the pool with some friends and family. We are celebrating Eric’s retirement, moving to Tennessee and our wedding. I’ve been itching to entertain ever since we got here and I don’t want anything to blow it. I don’t want to have to go to Plan B.

The house looks better than it ever has and we have been knocking off our to-do-list in anticipation of the 9 guests that will stay here. When you’re out this far, people tend to want to stay with you, so there’s a lot to prepare for. I love it though. I live for stuff like this.

Last weekend, I have prepared orange rosemary chicken for our dinner and froze it. This weekend, my sister-in-law, Helen is here and we’re make some of the decorations.

Eric hung white lights the other day across the pool and draped them over the fences. We plan to put lighted beach balls in the pool that radiate different colors. We tested them last night and they looked beautiful. If it does rain, we will still light up the pool area.

Regardless of the weather, I know it will be beautiful. We are really looking forward to it.
