The Amazing Life of a Loofa

20Sep13

Today, Eric and I went to a friend’s farm to pick up some fresh garlic. During our visit, our friends showed us their loofa vine. They gave us some of the pods off of it.

I never really thought about where loofa comes from or what they look like. You just peel these pods and there’s a loofa sponge underneath. It’s pretty neat. After you peel the pod, you just shake the the loofa and all the seeds come out through the holes in the center. I guess we’ll be growing a vine in the Spring.
